Build a five that beats the greatest regular season ever
The 73-9 game is a free browser challenge built around one number: 73-9, the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors' record for the most wins in a single NBA regular season. The game asks a simple question β could you build a starting five good enough to beat them? A wheel spins to a random team-season, you sign one player on a $100 million budget, and after five signings we simulate 82 games and project your win rate against that Warriors team.
Every player is rated from their real per-game statistics that season and priced by what their contract would be worth against the 2026 salary cap. The budget is the whole puzzle: you cannot afford five superstars, so each roster becomes a trade-off between star power and value. Read a full breakdown on the how it's calculated page, or the quick rules on how to play. No downloads, no accounts, free to play, in seven languages.
The 73-9 game is an independent project built and maintained by a small indie team. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the NBA or any club, league, or players' association.
